Job Brief
Web developer responsibilities include building websites from concept all the way to completion, writing well designed, testable, efficient code by using best software development practices. Web Developers are also responsible for ensuring the site runs efficiently and can function on all devices and modern browsers. Web developers can work with companies or individuals to create a site from the ground up or they may edit and work on a previously existing site that needs improvement.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop custom WordPress themes using HTML / CSS / JS / PHP
- Create digital prototypes (wireframes & mockups)
- Validate completed projects through a QA/QC process utilizing usability and accessibility specific tests
- Produce consistent, quality work in a timely manner
- Maintain a transparent workflow and suggest improvements as necessary
- Launch completed websites in accordance with a projected timeline
- Create training materials for new websites and walkthrough with clients
- Ensure proper maintenance, updates, and debugging on current on-going websites
- Stay current on programming and design trends to implement into continuous self-improvement
Requirements and Qualifications
Proven working experience in web programming
Bachelor’s Degree in Digital Media Design, Graphic Design, Computer Science, Visual Arts, or related field or 2+ years of relevant work experience
In-depth knowledge of modern HTML/CSS
Familiarity of WordPress, Javascript, and PHP (knowledge of SASS & Git preferred also)
Proficiency using Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator), InDesign or other visual design programs
Able to implement client-focused, efficient UI/UX principles
Great collaborator and experience working with a team
Strong oral and written communication skills
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Efficient time management
Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
